There is nothing permanent except change.

Systemic Therapie & Onlinecounseling
Sometimes we find ourselves at a point in life where we don't know what to do. We feel stuck, or we feel like we are going in a circle, as though trapped in a hamster wheel. We may have switched to "autopilot" and are functioning out of habit.
Sometimes, on the other hand, things happen so fast that we can't keep up inside. We are overwhelmed with the changes and challenges and there is too little room in our daily lives to deal with them more deeply.
Or maybe we are dissatisfied with our relationships with other people. Perhaps we are caught up in conflicts that rob us of our energy. We are angry or sad. We suffer, have fears, cannot find peace, and do not know where to turn.
We may realize that things can't go on like this. We want to change something but don't know where to start. We can't see the wood for the trees and have difficulties making decisions. The concepts and patterns for our actions no longer seem to work and we doubt ourselves.
Sounds familiar to you? Then you have come to the right place.
If you wish to clarify personal and social problems or conflicts, work on them, and find new solutions. Grow a bit beyond yourself. If you want to improve communication in your relationships with other people, as well as your overall happiness and quality of life. If you wish to work through events in the past, gain clarification of existential questions, or if you have questions about reorientation in life.
Especially if you are living in Germany, as an expat, and you communicate daily in English, which may not be your mother tongue. Perhaps your German skills are not advanced and you sometimes find it difficult to understand or adjust to the environment, country, and culture. You may sometimes feel alienated or homesick, perhaps without an option to return.
No matter what is your concern, I would be delighted and privileged to assist you along your journey.
My approach
True to the systemic approach I always meet my clients at eye level with a basic therapeutic attitude of curiosity and openness. It is my belief that they already possess the strengths, potential, and resources they need to change their situation. They simply don´t have access to it right now. I proceed from the assumption that our experience - our "reality" - is the result of our personal experiences and interpretations. These emerge actively throughout life as we interact with our environment. Through active listening and by asking open questions, I strive in our communication to understand this unique "reality". My role is not to present solutions to problems, but to accompany my clients in the process of finding solutions, to give them impetuses and suggestions, so that they themselves find the solution that best suits them. This joint search creates new perspectives and individual strategies to change old patterns of behaviour. Often just a few sessions are enough to achieve a noticeable improvement. It is about questioning worn-out beliefs and patterns, discovering and activating old and new resources, and improving communication with oneself and with others. For this, I have many tools from the treasure chest of systemic therapy and counseling at my disposal.
Why online?
Psychological counseling does not necessarily need a fixed location. Online counseling has many advantages. It is flexible in terms of location and time, without long waiting times. For example, you can avoid long journeys if you are tied up with time or have difficulties organizing childcare. Online counseling as a couple or as a family is also possible if you are not located in the same place. You can take advantage of a consultation from the comfort of your own home or on the move. Even if you live in a different region or country, all you need is an internet connection
About me
I am a native Icelander, 57 years old, and have lived in Germany for over thirty years. Meanwhile the greater part of my life. Nevertheless, my background, growing up and experiences from Iceland are very valuable to me, especially since they make it easier for me to put situations or contexts into perspective and look at things from a different angle and keep my sense of humor and confidence.
I studied psychology at the Freie Universität Berlin and lived in Berlin for 30 years, where I worked and raised my daughter. I enjoy traveling and have experienced many interesting things on my journeys. A few years ago I decided to make an essential life change. I left the big city for a more peaceful environment and started my own business. Besides my work, I love nature. I like going for walks or cycling and enjoy the peacefulness, space, and wide views. When I have time and inspiration, I like to be creative and do art or other DIY projects. I speak three languages in everyday life, German, English, and Icelandic, and I offer counseling in these languages. I know from my own experience what it is like to leave your home country and start something new in another place. Bringing together different worlds. Therefore, I especially want to address people who do not live in their home country (expats).
I look back on more than twenty years of professional experience in the field of counseling and have many years of practice in working with mentally ill people. While working, I have participated in numerous education and training courses, and have completed advanced training as a mediator (2001-2002) and NLP Practitioner (2006-2007). I am also certified as a non-medical practitioner for psychotherapy (HPG). I completed training as a systemic therapist/family therapist at BIF (Berlin Institute for Family Therapy) in 2009-2013 and in 2022 I expanded my repertoire to include systemic online counseling. Since October 2023, I have also been active on Instahelp, an Austrian online platform for psychological counseling.
